Ed Kaehler's Homedale Cattle Co.
About Us
Our family has raised purebred cattle for four generations in Southeast Minnesota. We currently operate a purebred herd of 175 registered Angus and Simmental cows. In addition, we also farm 1,500 acres of corn and soybeans. We (Ed and Julie) live on the farm in Eyota and manage the daily operations. Our four children; Jill, Ted, Nate, and Alex are also active on the farm.
Our program is driven by our customers, which is why we strive to produce balanced cattle that excel in both caving ease and growth. We recognize that the majority of cattle, and especially our customers’ cattle, are still sold by the pound! To provide the best product for our customers, we focus on maternal traits, fleshing ability, and performance. We believe this leads to a consistent and reliable genetics for our customers. We understand that our customers demand bulls with thickness, muscle, and that will sire calves that consistently outperform in the feedlot. To achieve this success, we have for many generations, implemented an extensive embryo transplant and A.I. program and rigorously select new genetics that come into our herd.
In addition to an extensive AI program, we strongly believe in investing in our herd through herd sire and female selection. We are perpetually looking for ways to improve our genetics and herd performance. We embrace customer feedback and use that as a guide for our next selection and we work hard to produce a product that is profitable for the customer.
